A list of useful links and resources to help you find out everything you need to know about successful breastfeeding, solving problems and connecting with other women online.

If you would like any general advice about breastfeeding, support is available from your community midwife, or health visitor, at your local doctors’ surgery or health centre. If you need out of hours support, phone your local maternity hospital and ask to speak to the on-call midwife.

The Breastfeeding Network

The Breastfeeding Network is a recognised Scottish Charity and aims to be an independent source of support and information for breastfeeding women and others. It has a wealth of downloadable leaflets on multiple useful topics.

Association of Breastfeeding Mothers

The Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) website offers up to date breastfeeding information, new research as it becomes available, details of breastfeeding support groups throughout the UK and links to other useful sites. You can apply for membership, order publications and a booklist points you to the best titles on breastfeeding.

La Leche League

La Leche League aims to help mothers to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information and education. Their site has information and online forums which can be excellent place to ask questions of other mothers when having problems or just to discuss experiences.

Best Beginnings

The best beginnings website is an excellent source of information and has a great series of videos "From Bump to Breastfeeding" which show you how to approach breastfeeding, attachment, moments after birth, feeding in public and overcoming challenges.

The Baby Friendly Initiative

Unicef's baby friendly initiative was established in 1992 to encourage maternity hospitals to implement the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding. The website has information on breastfeeding and also lists results of research on the benfits of breastfeeding.

Ready Steady Baby

The Ready Steady Baby website guides you through the phases of your pregnancy and the first 12 months with your new baby.

NHS Inform Health Library: breastfeeding

NHS Inform is a website produced by the National Health Service and offers accurate and up to date information on all kinds of health questions including breastfeeding.

National Childbirth Trust: feeding your baby

The National Childbirth Trust is UK's leading charity for parents and aims to support parents with acurate evidence based information. Their website is a uesful resource with an excellent info centre.

Bounty

Bounty is a Uk parenting club and offers friendly, well written information with a sense of humour to support you through pregnancy, birth and early years with your child. It has a particularly good "New Dad's Survival Guide" which explains everything from pregnancy onwards for your partner.

The Baby Café

The Baby Café is a network of breastfeeding drop-ins. All Baby Café drop-ins are listed on their site and you can find the one nearest to you using their postcode search facility. There is also a wealth of information, advice and guidance on further reading.
