Who else is doing it?

Dana

My baby is still very young at 8 weeks but I can already see the difference in his feeding. At first it was quite difficult as both of us were new to it. My son did not want to feed from the breast even with the help of a nipple shield so I had to express my milk and feed him through a syringe and then through a bottle for the first week.

I did get advice from my Health visitor on using a nipple shield, and once he got used to it he did start to suck naturally. As his sucking instinct got stronger I gradually tried feeding him directly from my breast.

I’m glad I stuck at it even though both my son and me found it frustrating at times. It’s a great feeling when they finally do latch on and you see them enjoying it. I’m also glad that I had the use of the shield, which made the process easier.

Now I can fit the feeding in whilst watching TV or using the computer by getting comfy and using a pillow for support.
